DJ Jimmy Jatt reveals he lost his sight in 2020

Renowned Nigerian disc jockey Oluwaforijimi Amu, popularly known as DJ Jimmy Jatt, has revealed that he lost his sight in 2020, marking the beginning of a series of health challenges.

During a recent appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, DJ Jimmy Jatt disclosed that after undergoing surgery to restore his vision, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

Reflecting on his health journey, the veteran DJ shared that his challenges began after deciding to explore life outside Nigeria. “In 2019, I wanted to experience life beyond Lagos, so I started spending more time in Europe and America,” he explained. “However, by 2020, I began experiencing health issues. Travel restrictions kept me in Nigeria, where I lost my sight and had to undergo surgery to regain it.”

Following his recovery, he relocated to the U.S., where he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. “I was on dialysis for a while before returning to Nigeria for a kidney transplant. After the procedure, I took time off to heal before resuming DJing across America and Europe,” he recounted. He returned to Nigeria in December to reconnect with home.

Addressing misconceptions about kidney disease, DJ Jimmy Jatt clarified that lifestyle choices are not always to blame. “I’ve never smoked and had stopped drinking alcohol long ago,” he said, attributing his condition to diabetes. He underscored the importance of health awareness and proper management, encouraging others to prioritize their well-being.
